Teen Volunteers
There are two main ways to get involved with Camp Jenny. First, you can help with fundraising. In order to make Camp Jenny happen every year, we must raise $75,000. You can work with your youth group or synagogue to help plan a fundraiser, or you can reach out to your own family and friends to raise support and money. Check our fundraising page for tips and tools!

Unit Descriptions:

Leadership Positions
Camp Jenny Co-Directors
In partnership with URJ Staff, CJ Co-Directors are responsible for the overall vision for Camp Jenny including theme, staff selection, scheduling and programming. This year, the co-directors are Emily Singer and Grace Engel.
Zone Leaders (11th-12th graders only)
Programming will be divided into three zones: adventure, discovery, and creativity. Zone leaders are responsible for planning and preparing specialty area programming in partnership with their zone mentor and senior specialists. The zone leaders will each be responsible for overseeing a third of the specialists and senior specialists. Zone leaders will support specialty programming throughout CJ, including working with the zone mentor and senior specialists both before and during Camp. Zone Leaders are expected to be at CJ from May 22-27, 2024.
Unit Heads (11th-12th graders only)
Campers are organized into groups based on grade. Unit Heads are responsible for planning and preparing unit programming in partnership with their Unit Mentor and the co-directors. Unit Heads supervise unit movement and programming throughout CJ, including working with Unit Advocates and Mentors on counselor and camper support. They supervise the counselors in their unit and serve as a resource on cabin programming and management. Unit Heads will engage with their campers in advance of Camp Jenny and spend some time (virtually) with them in March, April, and May. Unit Heads are expected to be at CJ from May 22-27, 2024.
General Positions
Counselor (10th-12th graders)
Counselors are responsible for leading a small group of campers throughout the weekend. They will plan and lead bonding activities and transition games. Counselors will receive coaching, mentoring, and support from Senior Counselors and Unit Advocates. Counselors are expected to be at CJ from May 23-27, 2024.
Senior Counselors (11th-12th graders)
The Camp Jenny team appoints senior counselors out of the general pool of counselor applicants. Most senior counselors are second year staff and are selected based on outstanding performance at past Camp Jenny or NFTY programs. Senior counselors are responsible for being a resource, example, and friend to teen counselors. Senior counselors work in partnership with the counselors in their group, and establish themselves as a go-to for the Unit Heads & Unit Mentors. Senior Counselors are expected to be at CJ from May 23-27, 2024.
Specialist (10th-12th graders)
Specialists are responsible for the execution of specialty programming areas such as Music, Sports, Water Play, Arts & Crafts, and more! Teen specialists will run the activities with support from their Zone Leader, Zone Mentor, and RAs. Note: specialists may work in more than one area, depending on how many hours each area is open each day. Specialists are expected to be at CJ from May 23-27, 2024.
Senior Specialist (11th-12th graders)
The Camp Jenny team appoints senior specialists out of the general pool of specialist applicants. Most senior specialists are second year staff and are selected based on outstanding performance at past Camp Jenny or NFTY programs. Senior specialists are responsible for being a resource, example, and friend to teen specialists. Senior specialists work in partnership with the specialists in their group, and establish themselves as a go-to for the Zone Leaders & Zone Mentors. SITs (9th graders only)
The Staff-in-Training program is for 9th graders only, and focuses on training teens to be effective future counselors and specialists at Camp Jenny. SITs stay in their own cabin(s) and spend some time learning leadership skills and some time working with campers. SITs are supervised by adult SIT Mentors. SITs are expected to be at CJ from May 23-27, 2024.
Media Team (10th-12th graders & adults)
Responsible for taking videos and pictures (action shots as well as posed cabin photos), upload photos to the online site for printing/pick‐up, compiling the slide show, and continuously updating Camp Jenny’s online presence. Requires laptop, digital camera (point & shoot or DSLR) and all connection equipment. Prior to Camp Jenny, there will be a Media Staff conference call. Media Staff is expected to be at CJ from May 23-27, 2024.
