Adult Application FAQs

I am an adult and want to apply to be a Camp Jenny volunteer. Where can I find the application and job descriptions?

The adult online application can be found hereThe job descriptions can be found here.

Is the adult application process blind? How are decisions made?
The adult application process is not blind. Adult applications are reviewed by the URJ staff. The primary role of adults at Camp Jenny is to support our teens in running a phenomenal and safe program for the campers. Adults are chosen with that in mind. In addition, preference is given for:

  • Youth professionals currently employed at Reform synagogues in NFTY-SAR and NFTY-STR

  • Parents of current co-directors

  • Recent alumni of NFTY-SAR, NFTY-STR, and URJ Camp Coleman

I’m interested in volunteering at Camp Jenny, and would like to bring my family with me. Is that possible?
The role of an adult at Camp Jenny is to support our teens. Adults need to be able to commit 100% of themselves to the NFTY teens and Camp Jenny campers at Camp Jenny. Camp Jenny is not a family camp. That being said, we recognize that some adults would be unable to volunteer if they weren’t able to bring their children with them. To that end, we have limited child care available through our Kids Club program. Please read the full Kids Club program description before deciding whether to apply.

What is the application deadline?
Applications (with the exception of the poster) must be submitted online by 11:59 pm on Friday, December 22, 2023. Applications after December 22 will be reviewed if there are open positions available.

What are the dates and times of Camp Jenny 2024?
Teen and adult volunteers are expected to be at Camp Jenny May 23-27, 2024. Some positions require arrival on the 22nd. Times have not yet been finalized. Please don’t make any travel plans at this time. Travel information will be provided upon your acceptance.

I can not attend the entire event. Can I still apply?
In most cases, no. Because of the training that takes place during orientation, it’s important that volunteers attend  the entire event. If you have extenuating circumstances, please reach out to campjenny@urj.org to discuss! Permission for exceptions is not guaranteed and decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
